Have You Read The Proposed “Health Care” Plan?
Have you looked at the new health care proposal yet? If you are like most people then probably not. I admit I didn’t until tonight. I’m going to be posting some of the crazy ideas they are trying to cram down our throats. Plus if you find something please post a comment here so everyone will know about it. I can’t link directly to the bill from here but here’s the link to The Library Of Congress site and you can search for H.R. 3200 America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009
Here’s the first thing that I found. Text in ( ) is my comments.
SEC. 102. PROTECTING THE CHOICE TO KEEP CURRENT COVERAGE. (Sounds innocent enough right?)
- (a) Grandfathered Health Insurance Coverage Defined- Subject to the succeeding provisions of this section, for purposes of establishing acceptable coverage under this division, the term `grandfathered health insurance coverage’ means individual health insurance coverage that is offered and in force and effect before the first day of Y1 (2013) if the following conditions are met:
-
- (1) LIMITATION ON NEW ENROLLMENT-
-
-
- (A) IN GENERAL- Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day of Y1. (2013)
-
Now, here is how I read this. The company you work for can keep its insurance plan IF they follow all the rules set forth in the bill. You may keep the plan you are in as long as you remain working for that company and you worked there before January 1st 2013. BUT if you change jobs after that day then the new company you work for will NOT be allowed to enroll you in any qualified health care plan that they may have.
So for example my wife is a RN at a local hospital. We are covered by her health care plan. As long as she stays there we can keep it even after 2013…but if she decided to change jobs and go to another hospital then we will not be able to get coverage under their plan.
So much for keeping our freedom of choice!

I HAVE READ THROUGH HR3200 AND I CAN TELL YOU I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY A NEW BILL HAS SO MANY REFERRALS TO OTHER SECTIONS AND LAWS WHEN IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS BILL IN COMMON LANGUAGE.
I WOULD NOT VOTE PRO OR CON FOR THIS BILL BECAUSE IT MAKES REFERANCE TO ITEMS THAT ONE WOULD HAVE TO HAVE A LAW LIBRARY TO RESEARCH.
IT MAYBE GOOD BUT HOW CAN ONE TELL WHEN THE LANGUAGE IS NOT TO BE UNDERSTOOD BY SOMEONE AS DUMB AS I ?

Hi Al…thanks for your comments. You are right about all the other references to other bills. But just looking at what is spelled out in this bill should be enough to scare you.

PLEASE RESUBMIT YOUR SEARCH
The Library of Congress > THOMAS Home > Congressional Record > Search Results Please resubmit your search
Search results are only retained for a limited amount of time.Your search results have either been deleted, or the file has been updated with new information.

Hi Brandi,
that link may have been removed. You can do a search on the LOC site for that bill.
